An NR post saying something positive about dogs.
There has been something odd about this weekend.
*waits for an "in praise of Stilton" thread.

And at auction...
The sale ended with Syd’s bikes which did not fail to excite, the earlier blue bike selling for £5,000 and the later red painted bike finally fetching £5,500.

The song was written for Jenny Spires who was at the time Syd Barrett's girlfriend. In the song, Syd shows her his bike, which he borrowed. He also shows her his mouse named Gerald, a clan of gingerbread men and a cloak. At the end of the song, Syd takes her to his music room

one of my basset hounds does this - it's not taught, it's subserviant behaviour
and very lovely it is too - i get my socks or a towel brought to me when I enter the house

I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like. It's got a basket, a bell that rings And things to make it look good. I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it

I have stayed in a house once owned by Syd, which is now a rather lovely B&B in Whitstable. It's called Windy Ridge, if any of you feel like chucking a bit of custom their way. The owners have charming flat coated retrievers. When the dogs meet you, they go off and fetch you a 'present' such as a welly boot or a dustpan brush. Amusing. It's remarkable that man has actually bred this behaviour into another animal.

I know Syd wrote it but it wouldn't be the same track without the keyboards of Richard Wright
